One Day After Surgery

Above is the appearance one day after surgery. The plastic necklace is a suction drain that helps prevent swelling and bruising. The drains were removed with no discomfort right after these pictures were take.

There is some swelling of the lips. A light peeling of the skin can be seen.

She slept well the first night. She is comfortable without any pain medicines at this time. See page 6 .

Two and Three Days After Surgery

Above are the second and third days after surgery. She was sleeping well. Up and about most of these days. She is using a little vaseline on the peel areas under the eyes and at the corners of the mouth.

In the anesthesia questionnaire that she answered the fourth day after surgery she said she had a pleasant experience on the day of her surgery, and that she had no discomfort nor pain with the surgery.

She could not remember the operation, going home or the first night after surgery. She slept soundly and well through the first night. She had no nausea and took had taken no pain pills because she felt she didn't need them.

Five Days After Surgery

The two pictures above are the appearance at five days.

By now the skin of the lightly peeled areas is dry and beginning to come off. It is like a mild sunburn. But this type of peel does not involve the harmful uv rays of sunlight.

This peel was done with phenol very lightly applied. No peel is really good for the skin. It is used to remove fine lines and brown spots.

A thorough peel or deep peep with laser or chemical can leave the peeled areas with thin reddish pink skin. And this is usually undesirable and best avoided.

Unless there is definite objective reason for the peel, it should not be done.

Most of the chemicals such as retinA and light tca peels that are used to "freshen up" are irritants that only reduce wrinkles while the skin is red and irritated. And they are also not good for the skin.

One Week After surgery

The last three pictures show the appearance at seven days. And even though the change in the appearance is quite dramatic, she is presentable at one week.

Usually as in this case there is hardly any bruising.

As early as three days she could cover everything with makeup and go out in public.

On the next page, page 2, can be seen the appearance at one week compared to three and four weeks.

All pictures above are without makeup so there is no cover up of any discoloration.
